Getting To Yes: Overcoming Network Marketing Objections
Whether you have been involved in network marketing for 10 days or 10 years, have earned $100 or $100,000, you all have something in common. Just like me, you all have heard the dreaded network marketing objection. Perhaps it was the "I don't have time" objection. Or maybe it was the "Those things don't work" speech. Or my personal favorite, "Network Marketing? Isn't that illegal?"
Chances are you were also taught to overcome those objections the same way I was. Simply overpower your prospect with what an amazing opportunity they are missing out on, how they will soon be richer than Midas with no effort, and how they will soon be able to quit their jobs and be laying on a beach somewhere, living a life of leisure. And if that doesn't work, get them on yhe phone with someone in your upline so they can tell them the same thing.
If you have been in this situation - and we all know you have - then you have discovered the same thing I did. This doesn't work. Even if you do manage to sign up your prospect, they are unlikely to go on to build a successful business of their own. Why? Because you never really addressed their objections. Prospects who become recruits because of unrealistic promises or bullying are unlikely to stay or build a strong team of their own. And if you ever want to build your business to the point that you don't have to be recruiting 24/7, then you need strong teams under you.
That's why I wrote this book. Over the course of my 15+ years in the business, I discovered something. Most of these objections aren't even real. They are simply masks for an underlying fear. Address the fear and the objection vanishes. Now you have a willing recruit, ready to get to work to create a new lifestyle for herself and her family.
So here's the deal. You can continue prospecting as you have been. You might get lucky and even get one or two recruits that stick around and build something. But once you've gone through all of your friends and family and those recruits you did have quit and start badmouthing you and your business because they didn't make any money, what are you going to do?
If you want a better way, you can start on the right foot with your prospects and help them understand and truly overcome the fear that keeps them captive in their current situation. Yes, it requires that you really understand the industry and your company BEFORE you start prospecting. And you will have to actually spend time with prospects. The days of sitting them in front of a video, then pushing for that "yes" before letting your upline have a shot at them are gone forever. But you will be rewarded with a team that trusts you, understands what they are getting into, and are ready and willing to get to work. And that can make all of the difference in your business.
