Listening to podcasts is a great way to begin a journey of personal development. But if you’re not quite sure where to start, here are a few recommendations to get you going. These are my favorites...the ones I listen to regularly.
The Mindful Kind with Rachael Kable
Rachael Kable first discovered mindfulness when she heard about it as part of her volunteer work with the Anxiety Recovery Centre. As she transformed her own life with the power of mindfulness, she had a passion to help others.
So, she started The Mindful Kind Podcast. Each edition is fifteen minutes or less, although many of them are under ten minutes. These short, focused episodes are filled with positive, encouraging messages that will bring you to a greater awareness and mindfulness.
Good Life Project with Jonathan Fields
Jonathan Fields was a lawyer who decided to become an entrepreneur. He’s owned multiple businesses and has hosted dozens of retreats, events, and workshops throughout the world.
In 2012, Jonathan launched the Good Life Project, a self development podcast aimed at entrepreneurs. But anyone looking for help on developing a stronger, more positive mindset can benefit from the podcast. Each episode features an interview with an “iconic world-shaker” like Gretchen Rubin, Seth Godin, Brene Brown, and Elizabeth Gilbert.
The Tony Robbins Podcast
Tony Robbins is a well-known motivational speaker. He’s traveled the globe, inspiring millions of people through his live seminars. He frequently focuses on the topics of leadership psychology and business strategies.
Frequently, his podcast features interviews with other thought leaders. While Tony does the introduction for each episode, he’s not always the one performing the interview. But you can still find valuable insights into improving your life from the shows.
The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes
Lewis Howes was a professional athlete who suffered a career-ending injury. But he didn’t let it derail the rest of his life. He went on to start a successful media company and created a membership site.
But one of the accomplishments Lewis is best known for is his podcast, The School of Greatness. It’s an engaging and entertaining show that features interviews with business leaders, influential celebrities, and even professional athletes.
10% Happier with Dan Harris
Dan Harris was a journalist that spent years covering news in the war zones. When he returned home, he had a panic attack on national TV. So, Dan began to look for a way to cope with his racing thoughts and discovered the power of a daily meditation routine.
He wrote about these experiences in his book 10% Happier and eventually launched a podcast by the same name. The podcast episodes feature interviews with thought leaders and inspiring experts around the world. The idea behind these episodes is to find small ways to increase your happiness in your day-to-day life.
The Bacon Podcast
Brian Basilico is the award-winning author of one of my favorite books, "It's Not About You, It's About Bacon!" His show, The Bacon Podcast, was voted one of Inc. Magazines top 35 business podcasts.
Through his weekly podcasts, you'll learn what you need to know about marketing your business from an expert on the topic. Brian also has a variety of guests who bring their expertise to add to the topic.
Don’t just listen to a single episode of a podcast. Try to listen to two to three episodes before you decide if it’s right for you. By listening to more than one, you’ll get an idea of the hosts’ style and voice. You might just discover a podcast that becomes a beloved favorite!
