When Will You Make Time for Your Favorite Podcasts?

If you’re like me, you probably feel a bit overwhelmed by your to-do list each day. I have a lot of responsibilities, projects, and tasks on my plate. And I have a lot of people I don’t want to disappoint like my team, my customers, my family, or my friends.

So, how do I find time to listen to positive podcasts that inspire me to grow? It doesn’t have to be challenging. You can fit podcasts into your days by doing these things…

Listen in the Morning

Most people have morning routines that keep their hands busy but not necessarily their minds. For example, my morning consists of taking my dogs out, preparing breakfast, and drinking my coffee on the porch when it's warm enough. Instead of just letting this time slip by, I play an episode of a podcast.

Get Pumped at the Gym

Try swapping out your music at the gym for a podcast. But pick one that you find matches your workout speed. If you prefer a slower, longer workout then a podcast that’s soothing might be a good match. If you prefer intense workouts, choose a show that you find inspiring and that leaves you feeling motivated.

Tune In While You De-Stress
Do you have a hobby that helps you relax? Maybe you love to knit or you spend each evening with your adult coloring books. It’s easier to absorb a message when your hands are busy, so these are the perfect times to tune in.

Catch an Episode during Chores

Play a podcast while you do your usual chores. It’s a simple way to make boring chores go quickly and use that time to focus on your personal development. You can listen while you’re doing dishes, mowing the lawn, or mopping the floors.

Commute and Learn

Another way to enjoy your favorite podcasts is to listen while you’re commuting. It doesn’t matter if you drive to work or take the subway. Use your travel time to fill your mind with a positive podcast.

Relax and Rest

If you have trouble going to sleep because of a busy mind, you can try listening to a podcast before bed. Look for a host whose voice and content helps you to relax.

You might want to consider the
Sleep with Me Podcast , which is a collection of nonsensical stories designed to lull you to sleep. Other good ones for relaxation before bed include Daily Meditation Podcast and Meditation Minis.

Remember, listening to a podcast isn’t about adding another to-do to your list. It’s about challenging yourself to grow in exciting, new ways. Keep a few episodes stored on a smart device so you can listen in from anywhere.

Selling Your Newsletter

We all know the money is in the list.  And one of the easiest ways to build a list is to offer a regular newsletter.  But just because you plan to publish a newsletter, it doesn't mean your visitors will subscribe.  So you may need to sell them on the idea.

"Sell my newsletter?  How do I do that?"

The same way you make any other sale, whether it's your products, your services, your business opportunity....whatever!

1.  Stress the benefits.  How will subscribing to your newsletter help your reader?  What value does it offer?  Why should they give up their personal information to read what you publish?

2. Design a great offer.  Most people won't give up their personal information for nothing.  What can you offer to entice them?  We call these "lead magnets" and they can be almost anything - e-books, reports, videos, training, product samples.  The only requirement is that it have a perceived value to your prospective reader - enough value to persuade them to give you their personal information in exchange.  And it should be relatively inexpensive for you to provide.  If you suddenly get thousands of subscribers, you don't want to go broke from your lead magnet!

3.  Add a clear CTA (call to action).  Believe it or not, some people need to be told what to do.  They LIKE being told what to do.  So make it obvious by including a call to action.  "Subscribe Now!"  "Click here to subscribe."  "Subscribe here."  "Click here to get your free report (or book or whatever)"  Your CTA can be anything you choose as long as it is obvious what you want your prospective subscriber to do.

4. Create your subscription form.  This will probably depend on what autoresponder you use so I won't get into detail here.  But do make sure you only ask for pertinent information.  For example, I am signing up for an electronic newsletter so unless you are using a physical product as your lead magnet, you shouldn't need my physical address.  If you ask for it, I may choose not to give you any information at all and you've lost a subscriber.

If you are doing business with European Union residents, be sure your form is GDPR compliant.  There's been tons of information posted by all of the major autoresponders on how they are meeting this requirement.  So again, I'm not going into detail here.  Use the tools your autoresponder provides.

"Why am I having to sell my newsletter?  It's FREE!  Why won't they just sign up?"

Good question.

Your newsletter may not cost money, but it's not exactly free either.  You are asking for something that many people consider extremely valuable - their personal information.  That is something many people do not give away easily.  And it's going to cost me time.  So if I'm going to give you my valuable information and then devote my valuable time to read what you send, you had better show me that it's worth it!

And make sure your subscribers know that you will not use their information for any other purpose.

Take your time setting up your newsletter subscription page.  Getting it right can have a huge impact on the size of your list.

6 Podcast Recommendations to Help You Grow into Your Best Self

Listening to podcasts is a great way to begin a journey of personal development. But if you’re not quite sure where to start, here are a few recommendations to get you going. These are my favorites...the ones I listen to regularly.

The Mindful Kind with Rachael Kable

Rachael Kable first discovered mindfulness when she heard about it as part of her volunteer work with the Anxiety Recovery Centre. As she transformed her own life with the power of mindfulness, she had a passion to help others.

So, she started
The Mindful Kind Podcast. Each edition is fifteen minutes or less, although many of them are under ten minutes. These short, focused episodes are filled with positive, encouraging messages that will bring you to a greater awareness and mindfulness.

Good Life Project with Jonathan Fields

Jonathan Fields was a lawyer who decided to become an entrepreneur. He’s owned multiple businesses and has hosted dozens of retreats, events, and workshops throughout the world.

In 2012, Jonathan launched the
Good Life Project, a self development podcast aimed at entrepreneurs. But anyone looking for help on developing a stronger, more positive mindset can benefit from the podcast. Each episode features an interview with an “iconic world-shaker” like Gretchen Rubin, Seth Godin, Brene Brown, and Elizabeth Gilbert.

The Tony Robbins Podcast

Tony Robbins is a well-known motivational speaker. He’s traveled the globe, inspiring millions of people through his live seminars. He frequently focuses on the topics of leadership psychology and business strategies.

Frequently,
his podcast features interviews with other thought leaders. While Tony does the introduction for each episode, he’s not always the one performing the interview. But you can still find valuable insights into improving your life from the shows.

The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

Lewis Howes was a professional athlete who suffered a career-ending injury. But he didn’t let it derail the rest of his life. He went on to start a successful media company and created a membership site.

But one of the accomplishments Lewis is best known for is his podcast,
The School of Greatness. It’s an engaging and entertaining show that features interviews with business leaders, influential celebrities, and even professional athletes.

10% Happier with Dan Harris

Dan Harris was a journalist that spent years covering news in the war zones. When he returned home, he had a panic attack on national TV. So, Dan began to look for a way to cope with his racing thoughts and discovered the power of a daily meditation routine.

He wrote about these experiences in his book 10% Happier and eventually launched a podcast by the same name. The
podcast episodes feature interviews with thought leaders and inspiring experts around the world. The idea behind these episodes is to find small ways to increase your happiness in your day-to-day life.

The Bacon Podcast

Brian Basilico is the award-winning author of one of my favorite books, "It's Not About You, It's About Bacon!"  His show, The Bacon Podcast, was voted one of Inc. Magazines top 35 business podcasts.

Through his weekly podcasts, you'll learn what you need to know about marketing your business from an expert on the topic.  Brian  also has a variety of guests who bring their expertise to add to the topic.

Don’t just listen to a single episode of a podcast. Try to listen to two to three episodes before you decide if it’s right for you. By listening to more than one, you’ll get an idea of the hosts’ style and voice. You might just discover a podcast that becomes a beloved favorite!

Change Your Content; Change Your Life

The content you consume can affect you in many ways. If you consume a lot of negative content, you may find yourself anxious frequently. You’ll worry about unknown situations and fret over your health, your relationships, your finances and other things. You may become irritable and think negative thoughts constantly.

But the good news is that you can flip the script. You can do this by consuming positive content throughout your day. When you focus on the positive, you’ll experience less anxiety. You’ll find it easier to face setbacks and other difficult life circumstances. You’ll stop thinking about the worst and begin imagining positive outcomes. You’ll be less prone to worry about your business, your health, or your relationships
.

One way you can include more positive content in your life is to listen to uplifting and encouraging podcasts. Podcasts are weekly audio shows distributed online. Often, a new episode of the show is released every week or month. Here are a few benefits of listening to positive podcasts…

Experience More Peace

Negative content creates a lot of noise in your head. It gives you new things to worry about and new problems to fear. It reminds you of everything that’s going wrong around the globe.

But positive content doesn’t do that. Instead, it gives you hope and leaves you feeling like the world isn’t a horrible place. It encourages and builds you up. The result is that you finish positive content feeling refreshed and peaceful.

Discover New Ways to Grow

Positive content can challenge you to better yourself. It can give you inspiration and insight for pursuing self development projects.

For example, if you want to learn how to be a better blogger, then a podcast on the topic of blogging or content creation can be a great source of encouragement. You’ll get regular tips and advice on how to tune into your audience and create content they want to read.

Become a Creative Problem-Solver

When you’re listening to uplifting podcasts that feature a guest or host who has overcome a personal struggle, it’s not just encouraging. It also allows you to see new solutions to your own problems.

When you learn about what difficult situations other people had to overcome, you can be inspired. You’ll look at your own challenges in a different light, helping you to become a creative problem solver.

Absorbing positive content is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Not only can it spur on your personal development, but you’ll also find positive content can bring more joy into your everyday life.

More of You. Less of Me.

Ken McArthur.  Joel Comm.  Diane Hochman.  Ray Higdon.  Mike Dillard.  Felicia Slattery.

If you are part of any kind of internet business, you recognize these names.  They are FAMOUS!  They are part of the internet marketing elite!  And I have had the pleasure of meeting all of them.  I even count a couple of them as friends.  But I am certainly not one of them.  I am not - and probably never will be - one of the "cool kids on the block."

But oh how I wanted to be!  I wanted to be on a stage before hundreds of my followers.  I watched how everyone at events would push to have pictures taken with these superstars just to prove they were part of "that crowd."  And I wanted that.  I wanted to be able to say "do this" or "buy that" or "come to this event" and people would...just because I said it was the thing to do.  These people lived the good life!  No worries.  No cares.  And goodness knows I have had my share of both.  But if I could be like them, all of that would go away.  I would have the money and the connections to fix all my problems.

And so I became determined to get it.  And I did whatever I thought would help me get there.  I promoted "opportunities" I didn't fully believe in because they were making me money.  I sold products I knew in my heart weren't as good as we said they were.  I left my family behind and spent all my time working on building my business.  I exaggerated how much money I was making and what a great life I was living. I hung out on the fringes of the "great ones" circles and pretended I knew them better than I really did.  If someone in their circle asked what I did, I gave some lofty obscure answer.  I wasn't going to admit I was simply a network marketer!  Everyone knew they were looked down upon.

As for my marketing efforts...well they were just as bad.  They were all about me.  Buy my products.  Join my business.  Make money like do.  Look at me!  Pay attention to me!  Don't you want to be just like me?

And nothing happened.  My business did not grow much.  I did not get the recognition I was hoping for.  My life was not easier.  In many ways, it was worse than ever.

Business cannot be all about money and recognition.  If that is all you are here for, you might as well quit now.  If you really want to be successful, you need to change your focus.  From money and recognition to service and value and passion.

The more people you serve, the more value you provide and the more you are passionate about what you are doing, the more money and recognition you will receive!  Instead of focusing on drawing attention to yourself, focus on helping as many others as you possibly can.  Focus on drawing attention to the people and things that need your help.

I am a network marketer.  That's right....I'm one of those.  And I am no longer ashamed to admit it.   In fact, it is my passion.

When I get the call that says, "Wow!  I love your products.  I haven't felt this good in years!", I am thrilled.

When I meet a team member for lunch and she tells me that she will soon be able to quit her job and stay home with her children, I am ecstatic!

And when someone tells me "Thank you!  This opportunity, the training, the coaching, has changed my life!", that's when I know I will never quit.

Because now, it's all about you.  Let me help you lose weight, look and feel great.  Let me show you how you can have more time for the important things in your life.  Let me help you change your life.

So no, I am not one of the cool kids.  But I am respected by the people that matter - my family, my friends, my team members, my customers and clients.  They know that their success is my passion.  I care deeply about helping other women, especially women in my age group, be able to live the lives they want.  I don't worry about what others think.  I don't care if others are promoting the next hot product.  If I haven't tried it and can't recommend it wholeheartedly, then I don't.  When I do recommend something, my people pay attention.  Because they know I speak from experience.

And you know what?  I make good money!

Now the decision is yours.  The same one I had to make.  Are you in business to draw attention to yourself?  Is money the driving force in your life?  Or will you focus on the privilege of using your skills, knowledge, and passion to help as many others as possible?

Follow your passion, follow your heart.  And the money will come.  I promise!

Wearing My Jammies to Work

Yes...

I'm sitting here in my PJ's and drinking a cup of coffee while I write this.

But it wasn't always that way.

I've told the story of the day I decided to get "real" with my business...

About how a small town girl with absolutely NO business experience became an entrepreneur, best-selling author and business coach. Many times in fact. So I'll spare you the details here.  You do what you have to do to take care of your family.  And I had to make this "work at home" thing actually work!

I tried several different work at home "opportunities", until I finally found the right one.

The right company, with the knowledge of attraction marketing, and the commitment to succeed...That's all I needed! It's all you need as well...

Today, I am very involved in network marketing with my fabulous company.

I love the network marketing industry - so much so that I wrote a book about it!

Yes, I do have other ventures like coaching and Ecommerce. But my passion is for the network marketing industry because of its ability to help ordinary people change their lives.
So now I ask you...

Do you want the freedom to set your own schedule?  Do you want to be able to spend time making memories with your family before it's too late?  Do you want to wear your pajamas to work?

Then contact me. Because the only thing I love more than building my network marketing business is helping you build yours!

It's 10:00 a.m and I've still got my jammies on! Do you?
